I've played the game through about 1. I'm not ready to change the game play just yet. When I am, I'll try out Wesp's. Sorry this is a load of shit. Tessera's is a mod as well given he takes plenty of liberties in what he restores and how he restores it.

Vampire: The Masquerade

He tries to take the high road and claim his is the one true patch for the game, while at the same time selectively restoring what he wants. Also keep in mind that nothing is forcing you to use the added content in Wesp's mod. If you don't think weapon X should be in the game, don't use it. The clash between the two patches is way overblown. I wouldn't worry about changing the game too much, with either patch. I recently replayed using WESP after only playing the original and the differences were very minor.

If I wasn't looking for changes I may not have even noticed it was patched except for the character histories. Honestly I was kinda disappointed: I was hoping my second playthrough would be a whole new experience but like I said -- I could hardly tell. Biggest changes seemed to be combat rebalancing, weapon locations, effects of skills in combat, some new weapons available at different times, etc.

A few more weapons and styles were viable whereas in the original they would have been a gimped path. The combat was never the reason to play this game anyway, so this stuff is not a big deal. Wesp runs two patches now; one is a bug-fix patch and one is his "Plus" version which is the mod.

When you download his, you get the option of installing one or the other. So that argument used to be true ish , Minimal Rose, but is much less so now. Honestly, Tessera is a weirdo. And a dramabomb in the process. This is the kind of thing I want to see, not "I shuffled the placement of 12 items for no logical reason in my weekly patch update, have fun. It is great to see this much energy in an older but great game!

I do not know if it has been discussed or not but another option that isn't very well know, unfortunately, is the bloodlines revival project. It is trying to port the game as it was Alpha Source engine to the HL2 Orange Box release version of the source engine. I believe that what they are working on is good thing and it would allow better graphics, more consistent and less buggy game play, plus the ability to mod the game for those who are into that like me.

That's a good move. If he's got a pure 'fix' branch now that's great news. Good code team there.

Oh god. Drama queen doesn't cover it. I have a couple friends that had to deal with him in the Oblivion modding community. None of the stories are good. Any chance of letting us know how far along they are or if they have any working models, etc? I would have puppies for this game running properly in a truly modern engine, even if it had to change to an FPS engine type. Everything is still a work in progress.

Much of it relying on volunteers to help out. Some maps work fine, some don't when brought over to the new engine. That is about normal for just about every other asset from what I have been reading. Right now, the focus seems to be on creating a working sdk and a system that would allow them and other users to transfer all assets to the new engine so that they will have a working and fully functional version of the original game. I know they have a working alpha for some things, others are still in progress. I am trying to help out where I can, but i am afraid all I can really do is try to increase awareness and get other people with talents more suited to helping the projects progress.
